The Essence
Al-Qaabid is the One who withholds, restricts, or constricts provision, life, or spiritual expansion according to His divine wisdom. This constriction is often a test to bring a believer closer to Him in humility.
In the Quran
وَاللَّهُ يَقْبِضُ وَيَبْسُطُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
"And it is Allah who withholds (Yaqbid) and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned. (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:245)"
In Your Duas
يَا قَابِضُ اقْبِضْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ
"O Qaabid (Withholder), keep my heart tightly bound to Your religion when trials attempt to pull me away."
